The difference between grating and prism splitting
For the same light source, the difference between grating spectrophotometry and prism spectrophotometry is as follows:
1.the resulting spectral pattern is different:
Prism spectroscopy has only one set of spectra, and grating spectroscopy produces multiple sets of spectra.
2.the use of different principles:

For the same light source, the difference between grating spectrophotometry and prism spectrophotometry is as follows:1.the resulting spectral pattern is different:
Prism spectroscopy has only one set of spectra, and grating spectroscopy produces multiple sets of spectra.
2.the use of different principles:
Spectral grating is based on the principle of diffraction.Spectral gratings are based on different colors of light at different wavelengths. After passing through the grating, the distribution of bright lines in the diffraction pattern is different.Prism is composed of refraction principle, prism spectrophotometry is composed of different colors of light in the same medium of different refractive indices.
3.Different resolution:
In general, grating spectra are finer and have higher resolution. The resolution of prism splitting is not as good as grating splitting.
The principles of grating spectroscopy and prism spectroscopy are different, using different expressions of diffraction and refraction of light at different wavelengths.
The spectral maps produced by the two are different. The grating splits to produce multiple spectra.Light waves diffract at each slit. The light waves are diffracted by all the slits and interfere with each other. The interference fringes formed by the diffracted light are localized at infinity. And a prism produces a spectrum of light.
Prism spectroscopy, which provides a small amount of dispersion, spectral line separation Angle is small, low resolution, that is,the spectral line width is not thin grating, it mainly uses different light refractive index for spectral analysis. But the brightness of the spectral line will be very good, because there are not many interference levels formed, the energy is more concentrated!!
